Welcome to Our Family Farm!
Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Guards Farm of Shingle Hollow, NC was founded by Jim and Sue Fahy. It was named in honour of a family farm once owned by the Asburner/Rigg family near Irelith, England.
The Fahy family is rather large and will be expanding again this spring. We love being part of a mountain community and learning about the culture of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We spend as much time as we can at the farm while fishing, hiking, starting a small orchard. Last Fall we held an art festival, "Art in The Holler" to raise money for the Rutherfordton Humane Society and to have an art contest for the children in Rutherford County.
We found this property in August 2005 and bought it from the Manuel Hill family. We are restoring an old log house we found inside an older structure which dates to between 1870-1890. This was a cabin built by the Arrowood family who are among this country's earliest settlers.
